Diagnosis and Management of Exercise-Induced Asthma

Exercise induced asthma (EIA) is the phenomenon of transient airflow obstruction associated with physical exertion. EIA occurs in upto 90% of asthmatics and 40% of patients with allergic rhinitis; among athletes and in general population its prevalence is between 6% and 13%. The object of this study was to stress upon the timely identification and management of patients of EIA. With appropriate therapy (non-pharmacological and pharmacological) 90% of individuals with EIA can control their symptoms and should be able to participate in any vigorous activity.Published
